Good evening folks! The JCast on Jabber Log is adding shows and turning into a network. The RandomCast features different guests and the show is just that, a random cast. The topics range from everything including past memories, 80’s Saturday morning cartoons, and eating habits, to anything you can think of. The shows are usually 30 minutes and although they are random the shows are quite funny so make sure to check it out. This weeks RandomCast featured my wife Rebecca and our niece and nephew Danielle and Andrew. We touched on what they have been up to, social norm experiments, switching from vegan to vegetarian to meat and what you would choose if you were given the choice of one drink, one food and one thing to do for the rest of your life. You can only pick one so what would you pick? Comment below with your choice and make sure to share this episode. Cheers!

In my previous post I spoke of the melon or wobble heads of West Michigan. They have been said to live in the woods of Laketown Township by the Felt Mansion. It’s a story that has spread across the area but another story amazes me for it’s connection to the ruthless gangster, Al Capone. Growing up I heard of the Yellow Motel within the Pullman area of Allegan County. It was said to be haunted by the murder victims of Capone. The gangster and his men would frequent the Yellow Motel back when he was in power. There were underground tunnels as well as a pit of quicksand where his victims were left to be swallowed by the land. Years later, the stories of a ghostly car that crashes in the area as well as white dogs guarding the area continue to be a topic of interest. I’ve driven down the back roads of Allegan County but I’ve never witnessed anything. I suppose it’s because it was never at night…well, I have been there at night but I was in a different area. So how true is this story involving this motel and Al Capone?
According to Charlotte Weick who wrote on the topic for Advance Newspapers, “Witnesses claim to have observed an unearthly yellow glow around the ruins of a former resort in the Allegan Forest and others report being chased by white dogs near the ruins. Others report a blue motel that transforms to a sickly yellow.” The story of white dogs is one that I have heard before. Back when I was in high school, a cousin of mine told me that he and some other friends drove out to where the Yellow Motel was located. He said that they pulled up, left the lights on to the car, and began walking towards the motel. He said that the lights turned off and all they could see were red eyes. He said that they ran back to the car and when they turned the lights on a white dog jumped on the hood. He said that it took a minute for the car to turn on but once it did they took off and the dog disappeared. There are more stories that relate to the Yellow Motel other than the one of Al Capone.
Tonya Howe, a Yahoo Network Contributor, also wrote about the Yellow Motel. “Ken, a friend of mine, was renting it when my husband and I dropped by for a visit, however, Ken was not home. As we drove around the circle driveway a lady looked out the window at us. When I later told Ken about this, he told me he lives there alone but that the lady watches him when he is mowing the lawn as well.” I can’t imagine seeing this let alone living within the motel when it once stood. The stories are almost unbelievable but if it was haunted, where did it all start? Howe states that, “It is said a young couple honeymooning there caused the hauntings to begin when the groom, discovering his bride not to be a virgin, killed her and threw himself out the window.” It would be something else to find out the truth behind the Yellow Motel but I think it’s the mystery that keeps the story going. The motel burned down in the late 90’s. Some say it was vandalized, but others think it was the ghosts that haunted the motel. “I stopped to talk to the renters who were going through the rubble”, said Howe, “they indicated they felt the fire was set by the ghosts and that it was not their first attempt to set the place ablaze.”
So what really happened at the Yellow Motel? What really happened at the Felt Mansion and is the Dunes Correctional Facility the site of the mysterious Junction Asylum? Both stories require more research. I would love to head out to both spots and do some recording. It’s definitely worth a try. I’m sure that the ones who know the truth behind both stories are long gone but what if? What if someone has evidence? Something the county doesn’t want people to know about in reference to The Junction. Maybe someone has actually seen the underground tunnels around the Yellow Motel. The quicksand might still be there, and maybe, just maybe, the white dogs are still guarding the area. Please comment and if anyone has further information, I’d love to discuss it.Post Views: 229

Hello fellow Jabber Loggers and welcome to another edition of Tech Thursday! Today we’re going to look at a revolutionary game that catapulted the Playstation 2 (PS2) to new heights. When the system came out it seemed like the company could not keep up with the demand. The games were excellent, addicting, and if you had one you were at the top of the food chain. Personally I felt that after the explosion of the PS2 the games became stale but one game hit the streets and my mind was made up. The PS2 was going to go down in history with the release of Grand Theft Auto 3. The versions before it dealt with drugs, money, and crime in general but Rockstar Games pushed everything to the limit with this installment of the franchise.
Grand Theft Auto 3’s Liberty City was brought to life with a three dimensional environment, crazy characters, multiple story lines, and fluid controls. Within this game nothing was taboo. I mean nothing! Your character is a street thug who takes part in a robbery but gets shot by his girlfriend and is left to be arrested by the police. Afterward your character is being taken to prison with a couple others and the vehicle is stopped by gun wielding thugs who are there to break out their boss. Your character and a friend take off in a vehicle and you begin doing jobs in order to make your way up the chain of command within a local Mob type group. Jobs include drug running, committing hits on rivals, money laundering, and many others.
In order to succeed in finishing the jobs of Liberty City, one needs to have an arsenal like no other. This games gives the player just that, an arsenal. You begin with hand to hand combat but your weapons grow as the jobs become tougher. The weapons range from a baseball bat, pistol, machine gun, AK-47, grenades, rocket launcher, sniper rifle, chainsaw, and many other weapons. One can do whatever they want and it seems crazy but within this game it can be done. If you happen to become bored with the jobs of Liberty City you can roam the streets on foot or by vehicle and explore. Every vehicle in Liberty City is available for your character to drive off with. You can also drive an ambulance, police cruiser, fire truck, helicopter, a singe engine Cessna, a bus, and even a tank.
The game seems unbelievable but it’s real and Rockstar Games is celebrating its 10th anniversary. What makes this anniversary so historical is that they have successfully ported a version of Grand Theft Auto 3 to the iPhone and Android powered phones. I downloaded it today and the game is just as smooth on my iPhone 4 as it was on the PS2. In all honesty I was thinking the game was going to blow on my phone but I was completely wrong! The graphics have been increased a bit and the controls work great. If you happen to have an EVO or any other Android phone with a large screen the game will be that much more smooth. I have experienced no lag time and I’m impressed with the mobile version of this game. I do understand that this game sounds like a complete desensitized version of life but it is only a game. This is not a game your children should play so if they bring it up you should tell them NO. The game is for mature audiences only. Although the game contains the crazy that our world is made of, there are police within the game that your character cannot escape. Well…let me rephrase that. Your character can escape the police, however, not for long. There is a wanted system within the game and the higher you go the more police come out to take you out. I believe if you get to the highest wanted level there are FBI agents and Army personal who come out. When that happens you have no where to go. Congrats to Rockstar Games on their 10th anniversary. Go to the iTunes App Store or Android Market to download this class now! Happy reading folks and game responsibly.
