Good morning everyone! The AudioVillains are back with another awesome episode! As always we practice the 3 A’s of podcasting: Adult Content, Adult Language and Awesomeness! In this episode, Ed and I chat about how kids can make you melt in their hands, burning (insulting) the cast of Friends and much more! This is also a pre-show to Ed heading out to Chicago to see Joe Rogan do stand-up. From what I hear it was an excellent show and he now has an official AudioVillains t-shirt. The JCast on Jabber Log started out as a podcast that would cover a show featuring the AudioVillains. This show is full of humor, serious topics and adult content. It has gained many followers and currently the show is making a comeback with episode 27, which will be live on Spreaker. Since the inception of the JCast the podcast has added two shows and is growing fast.
The first show is Within the Trenches, which is based on the experience of being a 9-1-1 dispatcher. This show has exploded with my co-host Whitney and I spreading the word on what it is really like to answer the call. We play real 9-1-1 tapes, answer listener questions and we interview other dispatchers from around the United States and other countries. The show is currently making the rounds of 9-1-1 conferences and was recently at the Mini-C conference in Boca Raton Florida.
The next show is called the RandomCast. This show features random guests discussing random topics. Some episodes can be explicit and in order for you to know beforehand, each episode will start with a warning of the three A’s. This includes Adult Content, Adult Language and Awesomeness. Each episode lasts between 20-30 minutes but if we get on a good topic the episode will go longer.
I am very happy to say that each show is doing well. They are doing so well that there is even a storefront for Within the Trenches merchandise and campaigns going for official AudioVillains t-shirts and limited edition Within the Trenches tees. You can follow the links below for each item and remember that with each purchase the money goes to the funding of the shows found on the JCast of Jabber Log. Thank you very much for the support!

Office Space, “A comedic tale of company workers who hate their jobs and decide to rebel against their greedy boss,” says IMDb.com. The movie is a classic but let’s look at one portion of the synopsis, “company workers who hate their jobs.” The characters in the movie indeed hate their jobs but what if deep down they hated it because they knew that is was slowly killing them? Interesting is it not? The characters are portrayed as stressed out, crazed, and manic yet it’s done with a sense of humor. All jokes aside, my career behind a desk has spanned over 13 years and the stress is real. There are many health risks that come from sitting for long hours but you don’t have to take my word for it.
Could sitting at my desk job be killing me softly?
According to CNN on a feature for Health.com, “Studies suggest that sitting for hours on end is harmful, regardless of a person’s overall calorie intake or physical activity.” How much more harmful can it be to our bodies? We’re just sitting there, right? In no way are we lifting anything heavy so what could go wrong? Within the same article featured on CNN,
“extended daily TV watching and time on the computer–which, like desk jobs, involve long periods of time sitting still–have been linked to a greater risk of metabolic syndrome, a constellation of health problems that can lead to diabetes and heart disease.”
The studies linking desk jobs or sitting for that matter and health problems are staggering. MSNBC featured an article by Men’s Health saying, “A 2006 University of Minnesota study found that from 1980 to 2000, the percentage of people who reported exercising regularly remained the same—but the amount of time people spent sitting rose by 8 percent.” So it appears that people are exercising but it doesn’t do a lot of good if we continue to sit on our rears. Now if that wasn’t enough, sitting for long periods can also affect our posture.
“For instance, if you spend a lot of time with your shoulders and upper back slumped over a keyboard, this eventually becomes your normal posture,” says Bill Hartman, P.T., C.S.C.S., a Men’s Health advisor and physical therapist in Indianapolis, Indiana. Hartman continued to say, “That’s not just an issue in terms of how you look; it frequently leads to chronic neck and shoulder pain,”
Still want a cozy desk job? A desk job may seem like the way to go but if you fall into the land of inactivity then you may experience some health issues. Below is an infographic featured on Mashable.com, which shows the risks and what can be done to combat them.Post Views: 59

I have always been fascinated by ghosts and the unexplainable. The horror genre is my favorite and two local stories have always been a topic of interest. Growing up I heard stories of melon heads in West Michigan. I figured it was simply a story to scare me into good behavior but as I got older I continued to hear the story but in more detail. The story I heard was that of an asylum next to the Felt Mansion that housed the insane as well as children with “melon heads”. They were abused, treated badly, and ultimately left to roam the woods. It was also said that at one time they stayed at the mansion. The story spooked me but I wanted to know more. I actually wanted to see the building and the inside of the mansion. I had gone out to the mansion several times but could never get close to the supposed asylum. It has been destroyed but the mansion remains. I’ve been inside the mansion and although it has been restored, it felt as though I was being watched by something or someone. The stories are endless but after a little research I have found more info on the asylum. According to StrangeUSA.com,
this is located near the Felt Mansion it is a small building that is a behind the BMX track. It is all broken up and windows are busted due to kids. At night if you were to go and look around the house, curtains in the window move and windows open and close, and strange lights are often visible in them. If you were to go inside and walk around you can hear heavy breathing, loud footsteps, screams, and even able to see silhouettes of figures walking. Sometimes you can feel as though something walked threw you and sometimes you may encounter a sudden pain in the wrists of your hands over all the place has just a creepy feel. October 2004 update: This building is the last remaining building of Dunes Correctional Facility. Its the old Trustee Bldg. that housed 80 inmates. This place is now being vandalized horribly and the police ARE prosecuting! The Junction itself is a myth. Allegan County Historical Society has stated repeatedly that “The Junction” insane asylum has never existed.
So the building was once the Dunes Correctional Facility. Where I work it’s known as the old 80 man building. It was a low security prison that was eventually shut down because of funding. This is the story for the public but others seem to believe that much more happened in this area. That this is actually the infamous “Junction Asylum” where the melon heads originated. Wikipedia, who is not always a good or factual resource, had a little more info on the matter. “According to one story, they were originally children with hydrocephalus who lived at the Junction Insane Asylum near Felt Mansion. The story explains that, after enduring physical and emotional abuse, they became feral mutants and were released into the forests surrounding the asylum.” This story is amazing to me because it had to originate somewhere. Something had to happen for this to spread. I’m sure it could be made up but if this is true then someone out there has to have some sort of evidence. Maybe I should walk through the woods and see for myself what’s out there. Can you imagine finding the underground tunnels that were supposedly used by the children who escaped the asylum? It is also said that the melon head children had planned to kill the doctor who abused them. Once they did, there was no where to hide the body so they cut him up and hid parts around the mansion. If you or anyone you know has any solid information on what really happened in this area, I would like to know. Was this correctional facility the site of The Junction? I’ve heard many tales of the hauntings in this area. If you have experienced anything in this area please leave a comment. It’s about time that we solve the mystery of The Junction Asylum that has been said to not exist by the county. Stay tuned for part two and watch the video below. Cheers!
