May The Cloth Be With You

Diaper Wars: Return of the Disposable

My daughter is almost 4 weeks old now and everything has been great. She has me wrapped around her finger and I don't think I would have it any other way. I have been writing about cloth diapers for a while now and it has been hard coming up with material on the subject. I know I could go and look up different stuff and report on it but I want to write about my personal experience. It had been the same thing day in and day out and I didn't want to bore everyone with the same crap so I had to step Read more [...]

Clothin’ from cover to Snappi

My daughter is just over two weeks old now and it has been going great. She's beginning to sleep a lot more at night and this makes my wife and I very happy. We have been using cloth diapers since day one and they have worked nicely. I did have some mishaps recently that have me wondering how I can do better with this type of diaper. Recently I have learned how to wash my daughters cloth diapers and without the sprayer it's pretty easy. There is a process to washing them and I had to have my wife Read more [...]

Oh how fast it goes…

It's only been about 11 days since my daughter was born. Although it's been a short time I can already see the changes in her. She seems to have grown a bit and she's making all kinds of funny faces. She's a complete snuggle bug and I love it! My older children were the same way but it feels special because she's daddy's girl. Every day has been fun and she's starting to get used to sleeping by herself and chilling by herself while she's awake. Her eyes have not changed completely but if they happen Read more [...]

Bummis, Snappi’s, Cloth!

It's been five days since my daughter was born. I have fallen head over heels for my daughter and who would have guessed that I would love using cloth diapers as well? When my son was in diapers it seemed so easy to change him, throw away the diaper, and put on a new one. The convenience was there but the cost was up the roof. Now, I know that this is normal and I'm not one to complain about this but it seems that cloth diapers, in the long run, will save me a lot of money. This I like. I dig the Read more [...]

One of life’s greatest moments…Birth.

It's 9:58pm on August 30th 2011. So much has happened since yesterday and my life has changed once again. Out of all the greatest moments I have experienced there is one that tops all of them; the birth of my children. The most recent addition to my family is Lola Mae. My little girl has finally arrived and this time yesterday my wife was in labor. Rebecca had been having contractions for most of the day yesterday but nothing significant or close together. We ran some errands and went to the airport Read more [...]

1 week and counting…

Time has gone by very fast. My wife has 1 week left and although she's ready to go, Lola is not. She's positioned in the right place but she's chilling for the moment. I see this as a good sign that my little girl will listen to me later on in life since I have been telling her to wait until the 29th so that my family medical leave will kick in. I'm sure this is not the case but it's nice to think that she's listening to her daddy already. I have two more shifts and then I'm off for two weeks. It's Read more [...]

2 weeks and counting…

Woooooooo! Two weeks and counting my fellow Jabber Loggers! Yesterday made the birth of my daughter more of a reality. My wife and I had to meet with one of the advisors of the hospital in order to pre-register so that we did not have to do it when my wife goes into labor. The hospital is very nice and it's pretty peaceful as well. I'm sure it won't be all that peaceful when my wife is crushing my hand while dealing with a killer contraction but oh well. I helped make the child so I might as well Read more [...]

It’s the final countdown.

My wife is just about 3 weeks away from giving birth to our daughter and I am freaking out. We pretty much have everything ready except for a few purchases at EcoBuns so we're good there but I can't help thinking how this is going to go down. Our sons birth went rather smooth but everyone says that boys are easier anyway. I know they're referring more to raising them but is it the same when giving birth? Are there other things I should be looking for? I'm sure I sound clueless but it's only because Read more [...]

Babies come out of where?

As my boy gets older he seems to have a lot more questions for his mom and I. He understands almost all of our answers and explanations and is too smart for his own good. His sense of humor mirrors mine and he cracks me up with some of the stuff he says. His curiosity runs wild and his questions throw me off every now and then. He's seven and speaks and thinks older than he is. It's funny how kids grow so fast and how their thought process works, especially if they are under the impression of something Read more [...]

Cloth diapers, Real food, New age hippie?

So the wife and I have recently decided to make some changes in our lives to better ourselves and our children. It all began with our decision, and some help from a good friend at EcoBuns, to try out cloth diapers with our daughter Lola who will be here around September 1st of this year. We are very excited about our new adventure and if you didn't know, I will be documenting my journey in a segment called "Diaper Wars". This is the first stage of an eye opening experience. The second stage involves Read more [...]
