The RandomCast – Tia Edition

Good morning! Last night I had the pleasure of doing a RandomCast episode with my mom and her sisters. It was hilarious and the reason I wanted to have them on the show is because as far as I can remember they are always laughing and having a good time. I remember them telling stories of their childhood and it has always fascinated me. I could sit and listen to them talk about their past for hours. What makes it fun and interesting, as you will hear in this episode, is the detail and humor they put Read more [...]

The JCast RandomCast – An encounter with my son

In the past I've written about my eldest son Richie. If you have read my previous posts then you know the story as to why I cannot say who I am to him. I will not go into detail but a couple weeks ago I was face-to-face with him. He looks like me and there is no way that anyone could say that he is not my son. From what I've heard he has my sense of humor and likes some of the same things I do. Some odd things have happened between us and it's something I have to address. When he was either 9 or Read more [...]

The Stems of Technology and Innovation at Holland’s Tulip Time Festival

A look into the future of Holland, MI was on display for the Kinderparade, part of the cities annual Tulip Time Festival, on May 10th, 2012. The festival, held in a city known for its tulips and Dutch heritage, was struck with a problem; it was missing its main attraction. The cities tulips had bloomed early due to warm weather a couple months prior, but instead of looking at the missing tulips as a loss, this year’s festival was spun with the use of technology and playfully named, “stem Read more [...]

Fatherhood – My First Daddy Daughter Dinner

Check out the picture in this post. She's a cutie isn't she? This is my 7 month old daughter Lola. She's growing fast and at times it makes me think about what it will be like when she gets older?Well, as they say, be careful what you wish for. Two days ago I had the pleasure of taking my goddaughter Estrella to a Daddy Daughter Dinner at her church. We were both dressed in our Sunday's best and I was immediately nervous. It was weird because I kept thinking, "What if I embarrass her?" "What Read more [...]

Diaper Wars: Florida Edition

Good morning to all! I hope you had a happy and safe St. Patricks Day last night. It's been a while since my last post on Diaper Wars but it's back and today's episode is a Florida Edition. My family and I recently returned from vacation but while I was there and on break a few things that involved our cloth adventure occurred. It was interesting enough that I had to write about it. Before we headed out to Florida I began to worry that it was going to be rather hard to use cloth diapers while Read more [...]

From Michigan to Florida in 22 hours

Hello everyone! It's been about two weeks since my last post here and the break was definitely needed. I have been hard at work and between, family, school, work, and personal projects, I really needed to step back a moment and prioritize. During my break I was able to finish school and design my personal website. It will included my portfolio among other items. As of right now I have the homepage and blog portion completed. I just have to finish up on four more pages and it will be revealed to all. All Read more [...]

Thankful for so much

The experience of life is an interesting one. You can be at the top living like a king and life can slap you with a reality check and bring you down. Once you're at the bottom you feel as though you'll never get out. You fall further and finally you hit rock bottom. From my experience, this is where you find yourself. You figure out what you're made of and you fight your way back to the top. It's a long journey. Nothing is perfect and nothing is easy. We don't have an easy button, though we wish Read more [...]

How our loved ones stay with us

When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. ~Author Unknown People come and go throughout our lives. Some friends we hang onto and others become another face in the hallway. The sad truth is that eventually we lose our friends and loved ones whether you hang onto them or not. The good thing is that once they pass on there are things that occur that remind us of when they were alive. I had a conversation today that made me think of a few people. I felt compelled to write Read more [...]

Remembering Family Through Humor

A good sense of humor is a quality that I look for in people. My sense of humor has always been outrageous and if you have been keeping up with my posts then you know first hand how true this is. I try to see the humor in everything really, but where did this come from? Has it been passed down through generations of family or was it a few specific family members that led the way? I think my entire family has a good sense of humor but there were a few people that really stood out. They helped mold Read more [...]

1 week and counting…

Time has gone by very fast. My wife has 1 week left and although she's ready to go, Lola is not. She's positioned in the right place but she's chilling for the moment. I see this as a good sign that my little girl will listen to me later on in life since I have been telling her to wait until the 29th so that my family medical leave will kick in. I'm sure this is not the case but it's nice to think that she's listening to her daddy already. I have two more shifts and then I'm off for two weeks. It's Read more [...]
