The JCast RandomCast – An encounter with my son

In the past I've written about my eldest son Richie. If you have read my previous posts then you know the story as to why I cannot say who I am to him. I will not go into detail but a couple weeks ago I was face-to-face with him. He looks like me and there is no way that anyone could say that he is not my son. From what I've heard he has my sense of humor and likes some of the same things I do. Some odd things have happened between us and it's something I have to address. When he was either 9 or Read more [...]

Fatherhood: One of my greatest achievements.

Good morning and happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. Today we are honored for the many things we do but most importantly, we are honored for being utterly AWESOME! That’s right, we are awesome! You have worked hard, cut the grass, helped around the house, killed spiders, untightened jars, played house, played with cars, helped around the house, changed a tire, and changed diapers. Phew! Yes you’ve done a lot and no, I’m not taking anything away from the moms out there but today Read more [...]

Tech Thursday: Happy Father’s Day to the Geeky and Tech Savvy

Good evening folks! On today’s edition of Tech Thursday we look at a few gifts for your geeky and tech savvy dad. This Sunday is Father’s Day and if you’re like me you want drool at the sight of awesome and completely dorky tech stuff. I would actually be happy with a 22 ounce porterhouse steak but tech gifts are right up there. So what is your dad like? Is he all about cameras? Is he a coffee drinker? Well I have a few items that you’re dad will dig. Mashable.com and The Huffington Post Read more [...]

Here’s to Another Year of Awesome!

"To make mistakes is human; to stumble is commonplace; to be able to laugh at yourself is maturity." - William Arthur Ward Today is the day of my birth, I am 31. I have gone through a lot to get to this point in my life. I have made mistakes, stumbled, and learned to laugh at myself. I can say that I have definitely matured over the years. Since my 30th birthday I have started Jabber Log, graduated with my Bachelors in Graphic Design, started my Masters in New Media Journalism, and most importantly, Read more [...]

Within The Trenches – The Bonds We Build

When you work somewhere for a long time it eventually feels like a second home. You build friendships, you laugh, you share stories and you bond. Hours and hours are spent with co-workers. So much time is spent with them that they become your second family. Everyone has his or her work family. This post is about mine. If you don’t already know from previous posts, I work as a 9-1-1 supervisor. What that means is that I not only do the duties of a 9-1-1 operator but I also oversee an entire team. In Read more [...]

Conversations that last a lifetime…

Crazy things happened to us throughout our lives. People come and go but it's the conversations that last a lifetime. This past Tuesday I had a conversation with my team, and a couple officers. The conversation was hilarious and it involved a time when I had gone to the Old Country Buffett with my wife and our friends. We had been there for a while and of course, I had to use the restroom. So I got up and went for it. I usually try to wait until I get home because public restrooms suck but I couldn't Read more [...]

Birth of a Jedi-Lego Designer

8 years ago today my wife and I were blessed with a baby boy. Our little family grew that day and it's been an adventure ever since. Logan is an excellent kid. He's sensitive of others and has a big heart. On top of those qualities he has a great imagination, and his sense of humor and musical taste are superb! He thinks and speaks like an adult and sometimes he catches me off guard. It's pretty funny when it happens and I just chuckle and think, "Yep, that's my boy." Now, in order for you to Read more [...]

School dances, and young love.

Yesterday I had a conversation with my co-workers that made me think about the school dances I went to in middle school. We talked about the music that was played and if we had a date or not. As they spoke I flashed back to my '92 - '93 6th grade year. This was the year that I discovered what some people, mostly my 6th grade teachers, call puppy love. It was also the year that my parents got on my case because of said puppy love. Throughout the beginning of the year I developed a crush on a girl Read more [...]

Rihanna – We Found Love.

Courtesy of Phoenix Philosophies This song is my new obsession. It’s an incredible song. The beats, which are the first things I hear in a song, are sickening! It’s incredibly uptempo and anytime is slows down it quickly revs back up! The lyrics are beautiful and, for me, relatable. Has there ever been a time where you were in a relationship, you knew that you should go, but you just can’t seem to leave? Falling in love in a hopeless place. And even when you have left, you want it back. Read more [...]

How our loved ones stay with us

When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. ~Author Unknown People come and go throughout our lives. Some friends we hang onto and others become another face in the hallway. The sad truth is that eventually we lose our friends and loved ones whether you hang onto them or not. The good thing is that once they pass on there are things that occur that remind us of when they were alive. I had a conversation today that made me think of a few people. I felt compelled to write Read more [...]
