How to shrink and crawl into a hole in 1 easy step.

How does one realize they have the ability to shrink down to a size small enough to crawl into hole? Well, unless you're Alice and drinking or eating different things in Wonderland, there is only 1 true step to realize this ability. Now, in order for me to reveal this step I must give a scenario. About a week ago my son and I were headed to the store to get a few things for dinner. I had the radio on a Rock station and a Kid Rock song was on. Normally I would have changed it but every word appeared Read more [...]

Diaper Wars: Wrapped Around Her Little Finger

It's funny how one person can have such an influence on you. This person can come in the form of your parent, a friend, a movie or TV figure, a musician, an artist, and your children. Right now someone has such an influence on me that my entire way of thinking is affected. I consider myself to be a pretty strong person but when it comes to my 2-month-old daughter I’m mush. She can’t talk yet but her facial gestures, coos, and general warmth gets me every time. We have had our moments where we Read more [...]

Communicating with an eyebrow.

This past Tuesday I experienced something amazing. I communicated with my daughter through the use of an eyebrow. Now, I can't say for sure that what I experienced was complete communication but after I explain what happened you can generate your own conclusion. So this past Tuesday my wife went with our son on a field trip. I was a little worried because Lola, our daughter, was staying with me and my wife is her only source of food. Sure she could pump but we need a better pump before we go all Read more [...]

Diaper Wars: The Cloth Strikes Back

For the past two weeks my wife and I have been running a trial with disposables over cloth diapers. I have enjoyed the convenience of them but they have been rather messy. I posted a few weeks back that my problem with cloth diapers was that my daughter kept wetting through them. The disposables on the other hand kept her dry but they allowed for messy blowouts. Well, after our trial with disposables, feedback from readers, and the excellent customer service at EcoBuns, we are back on track with Read more [...]

12 years ago today…

12 years ago today you were born. It was one of the happiest moments of my life. I cried when you were born and the warmth in my heart was overwhelming. I remember everything about the short time we spent together. You seemed to learn so fast and when I got my turntables you wanted me to lift you so that you could scratch the records along with me. Your mother and I purchased you a set of Rugrats furniture just for you and I remember how much you enjoyed them. You used to sit in the couch and stretch Read more [...]

One of life’s greatest moments…Birth.

It's 9:58pm on August 30th 2011. So much has happened since yesterday and my life has changed once again. Out of all the greatest moments I have experienced there is one that tops all of them; the birth of my children. The most recent addition to my family is Lola Mae. My little girl has finally arrived and this time yesterday my wife was in labor. Rebecca had been having contractions for most of the day yesterday but nothing significant or close together. We ran some errands and went to the airport Read more [...]

As much as I can…

Making memories is huge for me. I love taking pictures of my family whenever I get the chance. It can probably get annoying since my phone is attached to my hip and I'm constantly pulling it out but I want to catch moments to reflect on. Even when I don't have the camera out I like to do things that are special. They can be the smallest things but those are the one we remember most right? I have been thinking a lot about my family and the time I have spent with my son. There are a lot of things he Read more [...]

It’s the final countdown.

My wife is just about 3 weeks away from giving birth to our daughter and I am freaking out. We pretty much have everything ready except for a few purchases at EcoBuns so we're good there but I can't help thinking how this is going to go down. Our sons birth went rather smooth but everyone says that boys are easier anyway. I know they're referring more to raising them but is it the same when giving birth? Are there other things I should be looking for? I'm sure I sound clueless but it's only because Read more [...]

The Sh*% we did growing up.

In about 4 weeks my daughter Lola will be born. I'm very excited and can't help but think of the mischief that my kids will get into. They are seven years apart but I'm sure they will get into some shit along the way that will cause my gray hair to sprout. My siblings and I did a lot of things growing up and I'm sure my parents were ready to pull their hair out. This is what wakes me up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat, thinking of the crap we did growing up. Will my kids do the same? They Read more [...]

Bye, bye…for now.

As I prayed to the Porcelain God yesterday morning, I thought about my family and the fact that I have a daughter that will be born in about 5 1/2 weeks. I need to get my shit together. I was going to wait until mid-August to stop drinking for a while but I'm going to stop today. I can't take the chance of my wife going into labor early and me being two beers into a party or cookout or something. That's not going to happen! I'm scared as it is and this would just make things worse. So, it's time Read more [...]
