An LEO Wives Story – Guest Blog Post By Aly Tuttle

A Guest Blog Post By: Aly Tuttle This morning I woke up as my husband was getting ready to head into work. Today is his normal day off, yet he is going in to work some overtime and to lead the range training for the other officers. I saw his range uniform laying there. He got dressed, I gave him a kiss, told him his butt looked good in those pants and off he went. I proceeded to start laundry, and I see his uniform needs washed. I broke down. Why? I can’t tell you exactly why it was that Read more [...]

Within the Trenches – A taste of things to come

Good afternoon folks! I hope your Sunday is going great. I just finished a live broadcast on Ustream explaining my Kickstarter project for a new podcast called Within the Trenches. The podcast would be a live show on Ustream and would feature 9-1-1 dispatchers and their stories. After wrapping up my broadcast I realized that I forgot one main point of the Kickstarter project. The point refers to how and when the money you pledge is applied to the account set aside for this project. If you pledge Read more [...]

Within the Trenches – A story from behind the mic

For years now I have heard this after saying what I do for a living, “Wow, that sounds interesting. So what’s your best or worst call?” Now, I’ve heard this many times and at first I was annoyed with it. I never wanted to say what I did for a living but then I thought about it. Why exactly do people want to know about what I do? The general public’s curiosity made me even more curious. After talking to several people I found out that they want to know because it’s not something you hear Read more [...]

The Calm Within The Storm Of 9-1-1 Calls

Within Allegan County Central Dispatch sits one of several seasoned 9-1-1 operators. Her 20 years of experience have contributed to the safety of the public as well as her co-workers in public safety. During down time, she jokes with her co-workers in the room. Having a contagious laugh, the others can’t help but join in. The phones rings, the room goes silent. “9-1-1 where’s your emergency?” This is how Tammy Gane answers a 9-1-1 call. She’s calm and professional with a helping Read more [...]

Fundraiser – In Memory of Sgt. Scott Tatrow

On April 14th a good friend and co-worker passed away unexpectedly. I've written two posts about our last conversation and the bond that is built around work families. It's been hard for us at work but I can't even begin to imagine what his family is going through. I'm sure they are doing everything they can to manage but let's help them do more then just manage. A fundraiser has been put together for the family. It will take place tomorrow May 2nd between 5p.m. and 8p.m. at Uccello's of Wayland Read more [...]

Oh what sweet irony!

Hello all and Jabber Log is back with another story from the past. A funny story involving my brother, myself, and the State Police of Michigan. It was February of 1999 and I was getting out of school for the day. I had been debating on whether or not to bring my Tommy Hilfiger jacket with me or not and finally I decided I had enough crap to take home with me so I left it in my locker.  I waited for my brother to get out of class and we got out of the parking lot and fast. For the past month or Read more [...]
